ETERNA LAW acted as a legal advisor to the working group within the framework of agreements on strategic cooperation between Deutsche Bahn AG and JSC Ukrzaliznytsia (UZ).
Having concluded the relevant agreements on January 22 and February 5, 2020, the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine and the parties took the first step towards the implementation of a number of measures, the ultimate goal of which is to increase the efficiency of managing UZ and, as a result, the quality of its services.
It is planned that subsequent collaboration will address issues of operational activities of UZ ( increasing general efficiency and the railway track capacity, cost reduction), effective solution of current problems of rolling stock, implementation of new products of the UZ, as well as improvement of existing relevant legislation and achieving the goals related to cooperation.
ETERNA LAW’s team led by Andrey Astapov, Managing Partner and Maksym Uslystyi, Partner, provided comprehensive advising of the Ukrainian side, including the development of a contractual basis for cooperation and legal expertise of draft supporting documents.
After agreeing on a specific order for further actions in the Memorandum signed by Deutsche Bahn AG and UZ on 5 February, the parties began preparations for the first (preparatory) phase of cooperation in which a final decision on the implementation of co-operation and its operational format would be taken.
