Kyiv, 9 September. Oksana Kneychuk, Partner, participated in the presentation and discussion “Navigating the low commodity prices landscape – a Swiss Perspective”, organized by the Embassy of Switzerland in Ukraine together with the Lugano Commodity Trading Association.

For commodity trading companies, whether dealing with coal and metals, oil and gas or soft commodities, it is vital to monitor the strategies implemented by competitors worldwide and the attractiveness of different business locations. Companies that have chosen Lugano as their home have access to the specialized support necessary to operate successfully while benefiting from an uncomplicated regulatory environment and advantageous fiscal conditions, as well as from the uniquely stable economic and political conditions typical of Switzerland. Lugano also offers a particularly favourable geographical position on the North-South axis across Europe, next to Milano and with fast connections to Zurich, Zug and Geneva.

Established in 2010, Lugano Commodity Trading Association (LCTA) is a non-profit organization based in Lugano. With this association, the commodity trading companies intend to reinforce Canton Ticino’s favorable business conditions and to pursue common goals, such as fostering personnel training, broadening domain knowledge, exchanging opinions and views. Furthermore, LCTA aims at developing a platform composed of commodity trading firms, shipping companies, banks active in commodity financing as well as all consultants and certification companies active in this business branch.

Mr. Marco Compagnino joined the panel of the event thanks to his leading of the CIS Area at Fidinam & Partners SA, a Swiss Lugano-based tax, legal and corporate consultancy firm. Moreover, he used to be involved in promoting Canton Ticino as a business platform (in particular as best gateway to doing business to Italy) as CIS Area Delegate within the Chamber of Commerce of Canton Ticino. He has been also working on building up and improve our network of good reliable contacts and business partners throughout Ukraine, Russia and CIS by travelling to Ukraine and Russia on a regular basis.

This involves representing the Canton Ticino/Chamber of Commerce in several events organized across Ukraine, Russia and Kazakhstan (i.e. in Kiev, Donetsk, Moscow, Sankt Petersburg, Nizhniy Novgorod, Samara, Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk, Irkutsk, Almaty and Astana).
